I am David Bell, and I am running for Corte Madera Town Council.

I am running to help keep Corte Madera safe, clean, resilient, and well-managed—with practical attention to the infrastructure, emergency readiness, and community services residents rely on every day.

My career has been rooted in civil and environmental work, most recently as an Environmental Engineer with the U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer Center. For more than 20 years, I worked with California environmental laws and regulations that affect public safety, infrastructure, and responsible community planning. I also hold multiple engineering degrees, including a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from UCLA.

That experience gives me a practical, engineering-based perspective on the challenges Corte Madera faces—from flood protection and climate adaptation to the long-term maintenance of essential public systems.

I currently serve on the Town of Corte Madera Flood Control Board, advising and supporting the Public Works Department on flood impacts and mitigation. During my service, the Board helped develop a Climate Adaptation Assessment with specific short- and long-term actions, and the January 2026 flood event reinforced how important it is for the Town to stay prepared, focused, and proactive.

As an 18-year resident, I care deeply about preserving the character, safety, and quality of life that make Corte Madera such a special place to call home.

My commitment to service is visible in the work I do across town, including the Town Beautification Committee, the Corte Madera Lions Club, the Neighborhood Response Group Steering Committee, and my role as Block Captain for Marina Village.

I have also helped lead community efforts such as the Lions and Corte Madera Community Foundation Coastal Cleanup and serve on the planning committees for the Corte Madera Oktoberfest and Lions Car Show.

I will bring careful listening, technical experience, and hands-on community service to the Council so Corte Madera can protect what residents value while preparing responsibly for the future.
